Margaret “Marti” Crockett, a native of Colorado and a graduate of Loretto Heights College, began her remarkable journey by joining the Navy Nurse Candidate Corps in 1969. Over the course of her distinguished career, she retired as a Captain and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, Norfolk, VA, and Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo). During Operation Desert Shield/Storm, she deployed with Fleet Hospital 6/22 Bahrain. After five years of active duty, she transitioned to the Reserves, where she continued to serve for 25 years until her retirement in 1999. Marti then contributed her skills to the VA Medical Center from 1980 to 2006 before retiring from the Eastern Colorado Healthcare System. She is a loving mother of two and a proud grandmother of four. Despite facing challenges, including battling Coronavirus alongside her husband, Marti remains resilient, finding joy in hobbies like golf, card making, and decorating cakes for her beloved family.
